it takes sb some time to do sth.花费时间做某事.it叫做形式主语,其实就是to do sth的简单形式.你这里我感觉是把to live给省略了.
如果把days带回宾语从句应该是it takes two salaries for each home in these days.介词in一定要有.
你如果直接改成days,就是days做主语,也就是days take two salaries for each,这讲不通.
