Do you think love is mostly a selfish or an unselfish emotion?
A: This is a very interesting question. I my opinion, love is the most selfish emotion that exists.. Many people are, when in love, eager to spend every minute with their lover. Therefor, they are most likely to control their partners time-management in order to get what they want. However, this is a very controversial subject so I would like to hear what my classmate/college thinks about this question.
B: Thank you, A. Though, you have made an interesting point. I still disagree on this issue. I considers someone in love to be very altruistic. How many husbands works day and night to provide their families comforts? How many wives stays up all night to accompany their husbands? Well, a lot I dear to say. If you really love someone, you will put their interests and needs before your own. There are, of course exceptions but the majority is being absolutely unselfish.
A: Your argument is strong. It made me realise that their is unselfish love. For instance the love of parents towards their children. No doubt that parents always want the best for their kind.
B: I am glad you agree with me. I think that we can safely conclude that love can be both selfish and altruistic. It all depends the purity of one's love.
Is it most important to marry for love or are there other reasons to marry?
A: Although I am a solid believer in love and eternity. I can not deny the fact that many couple are united by different reasons than love. Money is definitely a huge factor determined whether or not to marry someone. I is not a uncommon fact that young girls marring rich old men. This is just unjustifiable. Their are ruining the principles of marriage.
B: I truly understand the anger you are feeling right now. However I would like to point out that marriage is not all about love and their is nothing wrong with that. Since the ancient times, marriage have not just been to express and confirm love but also a useful tool to establish a reliable partnership between families and even to keep peace during rivalries and wars. I believe that marriage is about the greater good for your family or just for yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong about that.
