Powered roller decks are used to transfer and store ULDs (Unit Load Devices) within the system.All decks are powered by a motor.The roller deck can be designed,constructed and adapted to fit almost any given situation or configuration.
The standard roller deck is comprised of three main components:
1.\x05Frame:
The roller deck frame is shop-bolted and consists of two longitudinal “U 220” channel sections with lateral brace sections to provide strength and rigidity.The upper portion of the side channels extend above the top of the rollers to act as side guides for ULDs.
2.\x05Rollers:
The rollers rotate in sealed and lubricated for life ball bearing fitted at both ends.At one end of the rollers the shaft is longer in order to allow dual chain sprockets to attached and secured via a slotted key-way.The sprockets are chain coupled to each other.The drive system is powered by an AC electric gear motor.
3.\x05Drive motor:
The AC electric gear motor provides the drive.The motor is mounted inside the frame envelope.ULDs are held stationary by disc brakes applied to the motor.The brakes are able to stop a ULD with maximum pay load within a short distance.All drive chains are covered with easily removable guard plates.
