The Rose Within
A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it. He saw the bud that would soon blossom,but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, "How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?" Saddened by this thought, he neglectd to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom...it died. So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects. We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential. Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another and find the rose within them. This is one of the characteristic of love: to look at a person and , knowing his faults, recognize the nobility in his soul, and help him realize that he can overcome his faults. If we show him the "rose" within himself, he will conquer the thorns. Only then will be blossom many times over.

曾有一个人种了一棵玫瑰,并精心地加以浇灌.玫瑰马上就要开花了,他仔细地观察着玫瑰….他看到了花蕾的含苞欲放,也注意到了花茎上长的刺,于是他想,“在这布满荆棘的植物上怎么会绽放出美丽的花朵呢?”由于受这种想法的打击,就在玫瑰绽放之前,他疏忽了对玫瑰的浇灌.…于是,玫瑰枯萎了.
许多人也是如此.每一个人的心中都有一棵玫瑰.天赋在我们出生时就已经植入了我们的身体,并在我们的失败与错误的荆棘中成长.我们的许多人只看到自己的那些荆棘,那些错误,….并对此感到失望,认为自己一无是处,于是,我们忽视了对自己好的东西的浇灌.最终,它死掉了!我们从来没有意识到我们自己的潜力.
有些人看不见自己的玫瑰,这就需要他人来为他们揭示.一个人所能拥有的最好礼物之一就是触及他人过去的荆棘,并从中找出他的玫瑰.
这就是爱的一个特征：看一个人,既要了解他所犯的错误,也要认可他的心灵的好的品质,并帮助他认识到他可以改正他的错误.如果我们让他看到自己的“玫瑰”,他就能够战胜自己的荆棘.只有这样,花朵才会不断地绽放.
