     Since 1976 the month of February has been known as Black History Month in the USA. It is a time when people learn about and celebrate the contributions (贡献) made by black people to the US throughout history.Lefs look at some famous "firsts" blacks in African-American history.

Barack Obama( 1961 —)

    On November 4 2008 Barack Obama became the 44th President of the USA. He is the first African-American president and one of the I youngest presidents ever.

Toni Morrison ( 1931 —) 

    Toni Morrison is an American novelist. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 for Beloved. In 1993 she won the Nobel Prize for Literature becoming the first African-American woman writer to win the prize. In her novels Toni Morrison wrote about the experience of black Americans.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan ( 1963—)

    Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the first modern-American superstar athlete. Jordan stands at 198cm tall. He is famous for his slam dunks (扣篮) .He is a twotime Olympic gold medalist in basketball and has led his team to six national championships (冠军).
