这年除夕人们在一个逃跑的途中看到一个乞讨的老人,他们之中只有一位老婆婆给了这位乞讨的老人一点食物,并劝他躲避“年”,这位乞讨的老人告诉她,他能把“年”赶走,老婆婆不相信并劝他快点走,但这位乞讨的老人坚持不离开.
到了晚上“年”走进了村子,看到家家户户贴着红纸,等“年“走进一看时,爆竹响了“年”再不敢来了.到了第二天避难的人们回来一看村子安然无恙十分惊奇.这才相信了乞讨老人的话.
从此每年除夕,每家都贴红对联,燃放爆竹.第二天早晨还要拜访亲人和朋友.这一风俗就成了中国最隆重的节日.

Long long time ago there was a ferocious animal named "year",and he went out to hurt people every new year's eve .So when the new year's eve comes ,people would hiding to avoid being hurt .
One new year's eve when people were hiding to somewhere ,they met a old begger .One old woman of those people gave the beggar some food and told him to hiding ,but the beggar told her that he could drove away this ferocious animal .The kindly old woman didn't believe that and suggested him to get away as soon as possible ,but the beggar insisted to stay .
When the night came "year" got into the village ,and he found there were couple of red papers on every door .When "year" got clsoer to check them the firecracker was exploded .The "year" was scared and never come back again .The next day when people came back they were so surprised and then they believed the old baggar .
From then on ,every family covers the red couplets on their doors and let off firecrackers .In the next morning they will visit relatives and friends ,and it becomes the most important festival of Chisese.
