Methods In this study,litter bags were placed in the fields at 8 different incubation times during a year.Litter mass remaining was measured four times over 12 months,and k values were estimated.Accordingly,environmental factors were measured during the period of experiment.
Important findings With different incubation time,litter mass remaining and k values are significantly (p<0.05)different.Rate of litter decomposition is significantly(p<0.05) related to environmental factors of the prophase rather than the later during the time interval of the experiment.K values extend from 0.779 to 1.303,and are significantly(p<0.001) higher when incubation time started in wet seasons than in dry seasons.Our results indicate that the incubation time of litter bags could significantly influence the estimation of k values,which may influence the estimation of ecosystem productivity and carbon balance.
