比如这句话:
The situation in which he found himself was very difficult.
也可以说成：
The situation (that/which) he found himself in was very difficult.
介词in是否要加在which前面是以什么决定的?还是怎么说都可以?
如果没有什么规定的话那是否可以把句子Read the passage to which I referred in my talk.说成Read the passage which I referred to in my talk?
或者把句子These are the difficulties (which/that) we got into.说成These are the difficulties into which we got?
说实话,改过来的这两句我读着都不如原来的通顺,所以我觉得which是否紧跟介词还是应该有规定的,可是上学时没好好学漏掉了,现在求大侠来解答我的困惑.

关系词Which,who在定语从句中作介词宾语时,有时可将介词前置,放在它们前面,一般有这几种情况:
1.先行词的要求
2.从句中某关键词的固定搭配
3.出于语意表达需要
关系词如果是作动词加介词固定短语的宾语,这个一般不拆开,扔放在动词后面.(拆开也说的过去,只是某种程度上说,比较难理解.所以楼主举的列子不算错.)
