Do you like jeans？Of all kinds of clothes in the world，jeans are the most popular．They are popular with many people，rich or poor，young or even old．People all around the world wear them，in the US，China，Cuba，France and Australia．Why are they so popular？Who made the first jeans？
Two men found gold in California（加利福尼亚） in 1849．Lots of people went there at once to look for gold after hearing the good news．Levi Strauss，a young man from Germany，got to California in 1850．Instead of looking for gold，he went there to sell things to these workers．He found that these men needed strong pants，so he began to make them．He used a kind of strong cloth--people make tents from it-to make the jeans．He put rivets （柳钉） on the pockets to make them strong，because the workers always put rocks in the pockets．These jeans were so strong that they could last a long time．Then jeans became very popular in a short time．
