Mostly,the lower limb is involved.This,because the lower limb also is mostly used in all kind of sports,and especially in football (soccer),which is one of the world’¯s most famous sports speciality.While more than 50% of all injuries involve the lower limb,the upper extremity ranks second with about 25% of sports injuries,followed by those of head,trunk and spine (Fig,Percentage of football injuries).

Sprains of knee and ankle
A sprain can be defined as a partial or complete rupture of the joint-capsule and its collateral ligamentous structures.It is caused by twisting injuries,such as the supination trauma of the ankle-joint.During this trauma,the joint is torqued andlor sidebent in non-physiological directions.
