Recognition of a problem is the first step toward its solution.Since we are now generally aware of the need to assess and control the true social and environmental costs of various uses of technology,it would seem reasonable to assume,until proved otherwise,that further scientific advance can contribute to the solutions faster than it will expand the problem.
