I do not suggest you to bring your laptop,because it is too heavy,and it will bring troubles to you when you entry into the USA custom.
They do have the wireless equipment in your home-stay,but only if you have a computer,I know,it is quite complex,but it depends on you,if you decide to bring your laptop,then do not forget to take the POWER CONVERTER.Droppinng me an e-mail if you need any more information,and good luck!
