我现在正在学新概念英语第二册74-76课,其中遇见好几句不怎么理解.Meanwhile,two other actors,Rockwall Slinger and Merlin Greeves,had carried two large food baskets to a shady spot under some trees.这句话我不知道该怎么翻译,因为书上翻译都是译意.这里的spot在这里是什么意思讲呢?Snow lay thick on the ground这句话是说：“地上积着厚厚的雪.如果按照这样的翻译我觉得英语应该写成thick now lay on the ground书上解释lay是系动词,我都不知道什么是系动词.covering them with all the clothes she could find.请问这里的covering是不是覆盖的意思.wondered how she could send a signal.这里的wonder是什么意思呢?我所知道的都是奇怪的意思,如果这里是奇怪的意思感觉不恰当吧!Fortunately,a pilot saw the signal and sent a message by radio to the nearest town.这句话明显是被动语,怎么没有be动词,而且感觉顺序颠倒.至少我觉得应该是Fortunately,a pilot saw the signal and sent a message to the nearest town by radiowe are going over to the macaroni fields of Calabria.这里的go over应该是走过的意思吧!为什么还有to应该感觉不是表示目的的意思吧!harvesting has begunearlier than usual请问harvest是什么意思呢?第一次遇见这个单词'To end our special news bulletin这句话中的to end是结尾的意思可以放在句尾吗?而且这句话我也翻译的很不通顺,各位也会有点多,还希望你们耐心帮我解答下.

spot 做名词是“地点”就是阴凉的地方.
lay 是系动词,后接表语thick.系动词是联系主语和表语的成分.表语是说明主语状态或身份的.be动词就是个系动词.the snow lay thick就是说明snow 的状态.
wonder 是want to know 的意思,也有对...感到奇怪 的意思.
sent a message by radio,这里没有被动之意.by radio 是通过无线电..
go to 要用to 是因为后面接目的地.如go to school.
harvesting 是指收割庄稼,收获季节
end 在这里做动词用,结束 的意思
