Pollution in big city
The ultimate aim of a sustainable city is to eliminate any pollution that has a detrimental impact on the environment.Pollution as the biggest issue that faced by people live in the big city, need our attension,so that we can solve it before it’s getting worse.First of all, let’s have a look at the term “pollution”.What is pollution?how did it become a seriouse problem in the city?and what effects does it have on us?Those are the questions that have to be understood properly beforehand.
Pollution is defined as any substance that is in a quantity or location that makes it detrimental to the environment or the organisms living there.Nowadays, most of us know that these threats exist and that humans have caused them. Many of us are very worried about the future of our planet and unless we can find a way of solving the problems we have made then the environment will suffer even more.In Leicester, the main pollution problem faced is poor air quality – the levels of nitrogen dioxide and particulates resulting from vehicle exhaust emissions are above the limits set by the Government’s air quality objectives. The main problem areas are the city centre and major road corridors. Both nitrogen dioxide and particulates are related to acute and long-term respiratory health problems.
The resulting pollution reduces the quality of air, water and land and can have severe consequences for the health and lives of both humans and other species. It all sounds so depressing - but we certainly mustn't despair!Every one of us,whatever age we are,can do something to help slow down and reverse some of the damage. We cannot leave the problem-solving entirely to the experts - we all have a responsibility for our environment. We must learn to live in a sustainable way.As populations expand and lifestyles change,we must keep the World in good condition so that future generations will have the same natural resources that we have
