答案和解析
knowledge is the way to be able to see things in a different light, to be able to understand things from more than one perspective. When you have no knowledge, your mind is empty, but if you have an education then you will be able to reason. To have an open mind is to not jump to a conclusion, but look at something from all sides and perspectives.
By educating yourself, you will learn more and be open to more things because you have knowledge of other things. If you aren't educated and fill yourself with nothing, how can you be open to anything if you don't know anything?
To become truly educated, one has to be able to view the world, people, him/herself, information, problems, solutions, and everything else with a mind receptive to unrestricted knowledge, exposed to possibilities, available for honing, free from narrowness, prejudice, or intolerance, unprotected by creeds and dogma, observant of but unlimited by disapproving analyses.
OTHER THOUGHTS ABOUT EDUCATION:
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. [Aristotle]
Sixty years ago I knew everything; now I know nothing; education is a progressive discovery of your own ignorance [Will Durant (1885-1981)].
The trouble with learning from experience is that you never graduate. [Doug Larson]
Education is a private matter between the person and the world of knowledge and experience, and has little to do with school or college. [Lillian Smith (1897-1966)]
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Education is being able to read the fine print. Experience is what you get if you don't. [Pete Seeger]
When I was a boy of 14 my father was so ignorant that I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in only seven years. [Mark Twain]
To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe. [Marilyn vos Savant]
I began my education at a very early age; in fact, right after I left college. [Winston Churchill]
Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten. [B.F. Skinner]
It means education is meant to educate: to teach people things they do not know, and to make them interested in learning about things.
'Empty mind' is that of a person that does not know a lot of information or facts, does not WANT to know, or one who is oblivious of the existence of certain fields, subjects or cultures.
To 'open' the mind would be to expose people to facts to which they may previously have been unaware, to expose entire topics to people who may never have known those topics existed, or to get people to reevaluate their beliefs/what they think they know in the face of contrary evidence.
One of the most important things about education is that it allows you to have an open mind. The more you know about the world, the more you can understand and respect it. Prejudice and stereotypes disappear if you can understand the world. Social issues become clearer when you are educated on the facts. Respect for the world is the best side effect of education
