In recent years it has been a common practice for high schools to hold a rite of passage. As to the phenomenon opinions vary from person to person.

Some people firmly believe that it’s a must to hold it. For one thing through the rite of passage they are convinced that it will make for carrying forward the traditional Chinese culture. For another it will help teenagers learn to be responsible for both families and society.

However others take a different side. Just as can be seen the rite of passage tends to follow a fixed routine and lack interesting contents. On top of it the money
spent on it is sometimes out of proportion to the result achieved.

As for me I really applaud activities like it which is beneficial to our better understanding of sense of responsibility. Besides what can’t be overlooked is the part it plays in motivating young students to become more self-independent and make greater efforts to realize their own dreams in future. (150 words)
