What is the most valuable title for Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade―being named seven-time NBA All-Star or an Olympic gold medalist?

Neither of the above. Being "a good father" is the most important thing to the 30-year-old according to Wade's new book A Father First . How My Life Be?came Bigger Than Basketball.

The book was released last month and is now among the Nexv York Times best-seller lists. It talks about Wade's life in and out of basketball and his rela?tionship with his two sons Zaire 10,and Zion 5.

"I'm blessed every day with the joy of hearing fans and announcers call my name. Not to mention various nicknames―from  Wade, to 'Flash' to just 'No. 3,. But none of that comes close to the thrill of hearing my sons call out my most favourite name of all 'Daddy!, Anytime anywhere any day " he writes in his new book.

Wade says he was determined to be a good father because of this experience growing up with divorced parents on the South Side Chicago's poor neighbour?hoods.

When he was a kid his mother was addicted to drugs. His sister could do nothing but take 10-year-old Dwyane to live with his father away from the drug deals and police raids(搜捕) he had grown accustomed to.

Wade admits the new environment allowed him to play basketball with his stepbrothers and their friends.

After divorcing Siohvaughn Funches-Wade his high school sweetheart and the children's mother in 2010,Wade gained joint(共同的) custody(监护权) of the kids.

However he had a bitter court battle before gai?ning full custody of them the next year.

For Wade breaking the cycle of "babies having babies"―one that he says ran in his family and his Af?rican-American community―was at first a priority(优先考虑的事) and then a challenge. He wanted to be the best full-time dad he could be.

As an NBA exception without a tattoo(纹身) , Wade says he wishes to be his kids' role model and that fatherhood helps him mature.

"Living in Miami and playing in the NBA every?thing moves quickly and my kids slow things down. Becoming a dad matured me. I was already a mature kid but it has made me grow up a little faster so I am ready for the responsibilities of being a father " he told The USA Today.
