What if there is a fire where you live? Here are some tips.

If you’re in a room with the door closed and you can’t see any smoke around the door you can open the door carefully and slowly.   71  .  If there is no smoke or heat go toward your escape route exit.

If you can see smoke in the house stay low to the ground as you make your way to the exit.   72      Smoke naturally rises. You’ll breathe less smoke if you stay close to the ground.

73    Also ask your parents if windows would be possible escape routes. Learn how to unlock the windows open them and remove the screen if necessary.    74   Lots of kids are injured because they fall out windows.

75   But if there is a fire you have to leave them behind. The most important thing is that you get out safely. It’s also important to know that you shouldn’t stay in the house any longer. Someone else can make the fire alarm call from outside. Once you’re out do not go back in for the things even pets. You can tell the fire rescue people about the pets that were left behind and they may be able to help.

D. Leaving the room for the outside should be your first choice when there is a fire.

F. Exiting through a door that leads outside should be your first choice as an escape route.

G. If you feel a burst of heat or smoke pours into the room when opening the door quickly shut it.
