The whole place,without her,looks forlorn.
Each time I sober up from a drink,
The curtains seem to closely drawn.
Since last spring,about now,she was gone.
I’ve had many things for which to mourn:
Falling flowers suggest my lonely state;
So would a swallow flying with its mate.
When I first saw her,
She was in a gauzy dress,silk-lined
With two embroidered birds,well-designed.
She could make her lute sing---
The love from a maiden’s heart.
Ere she would care to depart.
The bright moon was then o’er the sky’s dome,
Illuming her way to her home.
