More than two billion people live in Asia!This is about two-fifths of all the people on earth.This number includes parts of Russia,all of China,Japan,India and many other smaller Asian countries.With so many people living in this area it is not surprisiiiing that there are many different languages spoken.
About half of these tow billion people speak Chinese.However,not all oral Chinese is the same.There are many dialects of this language:Pekingese Cantonese and Mandarin,to name but a few.It is quite difficult for the speakers of each dialect to understand each other.Yet,strangely enough,understand each other's speech,they can well understand esch other when they put the words on paper.
It alldepends on the tone of voice that each dialect uses.At times,in one sentence,each word has a different tone,so that the same word might meanone thing in one dialect and another thing in a different dialect.
